Scene-In-Verse Blogfest

I thought I'd try something new. I think it might be fun. But I'll need your participation. You in? What's that? You want to know what you're signing up for first? Well, okay. I suppose that's fair.

1) Between now and December 29, sign up below to participate in the Scene-In-Verse Blogfest I'll be hosting. That's right...a scene written in verse!

2) Using one of the photo prompts below, write a scene no longer than 500 words using the narrative-verse style (i.e. poetry that tells a story) found in Verse Novels.

3) Post your scene on December 29th and then come back here to read and comment on the other entries! In your blogfest post, please reference which photo you used.

If none of the following photos inspire you (I tried to include a variety), feel free to choose your own, but please make it a wintry theme! It is December after all. (Click on the photos to enlarge.)

I know this is a busy time of year so if you need to post your scene-in-verse early, please feel free to do so (just make sure to stop back here and let us know so we don't miss it!).

Also, I know writing in verse can be daunting, but think of it as an experiment, a challenge, something new and fun to try. Don't worry about it being perfect. It doesn't really have to be all that good. It'll be fun, trust me! I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

So without further ado... Mr. Linky. Sign up and then invite your friends to do the same! See you back here December 29th for some good, old fashioned, wintry writing fun!

Wow, those are quite the photos! I'd love to participate but things are mental right now... but maybe in the future! Good luck!

What a great idea. I'm not signing up right now because I'm a little overwhemled by other things, but I just might come back and link up. I think it would be fun.

Awesome pics! Can't wait to get started.

Talli and Susan- If either of you find a little time, I'd love to have you participate (even a stanza or two), but if not, I completely understand. Just make sure to swing back to read the delightful ridiculousness that we all come up with. ;)

Racquel- You in? *eyebrow wiggle*

Misha- Yeah! *high five*

I'm a follower who reads your posts occasionally...

I'd like to invite a writer-friend to participate, but there's no share link on your post. So... Please invite blogger IAMRRA to participate in this. Tell her BrandiBran sent ya.

Thanks :o)

Hey BrandiBran! Thanks for following. For future reference, I think there's a share link at the very bottom of the post...right after the label...some secretive buttons that are hard to see...I think they work... :) In any case, I will send IamRRA a link so she can check it out!

What a neat idea! It would be a challenge for me, that's for sure. I'll consider it! :)

This is such a great idea, but my knees quake at the idea of doing verse as prose! I'm so chicken.

Valerie Geary said...

Janna- Hope you can join us!

Lydia- My knees are quaking a little too...but that's half the fun right? Erm...right? ;)

Okay, I pushed the Mr. Linky button and now my heart is thumping. Eeek. What a challenge. But it's going to be fun, I'm sure, once I get over the wintery-cold feet.
I'll mention the fest on my blog soon. I'm actually getting excited.

Valerie Geary said...

Yeah yeah yeah!!! Tricia I'm so glad you're going to play along! I've started working on mine and I'm actually having a really good time! It's a nice break from prose. :)

I would love to do this, but I have SO much on my plate.

I see O'Brien's doing it. Let me see if I can put some things on the back burner. It sounds like tons of fun. :)

RaShelle said...

LOL, I'm game!

Valerie Geary said...

Robyn- Move those things around! Move them! This blogfest is calling your name....I can hear it on the wind. :D

RaShelle- Yes! High fives!
