Two Things and A Yellow-Bellied Marmot

THING 1:

NPR's 3 Minute Fiction Contest (Round 7) was announced on Sunday. The challenge? Write a 600 word story where someone leaves town and someone arrives in town. The deadline? September 25. You still have plenty of time to submit your entry. So put on your creative thinking caps and start writing! If nothing else, it'll be a good exercise to awaken your creative soul.

THING 2:

I am now a proud owner of a monkey hat AKA my creative thinking cap.

See, I was in Denver, Colorado last week celebrating my grandparents' 80th birthdays (woot, woot!) and went with my family for a quick jaunt through Rocky Mountain National Park. Alas, I was not expecting it to snow. Lucky for me, there is a souvenir shop at the summit. Helloooo Monkey Hat! My head has never been warmer.

A YELLOW-BELLIED MARMOT:

He is almost cuter than my monkey hat. Almost........... Oh, who am I kidding? He's so much cuter than the monkey hat. I mean, come on! Look at his little paws!

  1. Good luck!! I entered last year. Miserable entry. I don't think I'll enter again. Maybe next year...

  4. Marmots very much might be one of the best things about moving to the west coast.
