This Girl I Know In Mexico

Have I ever told you about my friend Jarilyn?

We were college roommates. She introduced me to Hubby, and was my maid of honor. She's a friend, a sister, a true inspiration.

For the past 4 years, Jarilyn has been volunteering at Door of Faith Orphanage in La Mision, Baja California, Mexico. (Holy beans, has it really been that long?!)

In addition to working at the orphanage, she also works with La Mision Ministries, an organization that focuses on improving the living conditions of families in that community by funding construction projects: new roofs and roof repairs, room additions, septic tank repairs, etc. They purchase local supplies and hire local workers using donations from people like you and me.

Jarilyn is celebrating her birthday this month and I thought now would be as good a time as any to help spread the word about the organizations to which she gives so much of her time and love.

If you are interested, consider:

- Sponsoring a child or making a one time donation to Door of Faith Orphanage.

- Donating to La Mision Ministries to help them meet their fundraising goals on several pending projects.

Jarilyn also relies on donations to pay her bills and living expenses, and though she hasn't updated her blog in a while, there are a few archived posts in which she shares stories and pictures about her experiences in Mexico for those who want to know more.

Understandably, not everyone can give money, but will you give a small portion of your time and share this post with others? It would mean a lot to me.

I admire people like her SO MUCH! My family has sponsored an orphan in Haiti-- at the Haiti Mercy mission--for three or four years now. Her name is Marie-Ange. I highly recommend sponsorship to anyone who may consider it.
